What do you do when your family all gets together, one flying in from Switzerland and the other down from Seattle? You get together for family photos! Sometimes large family photo sessions can feel like small weddings but this group was so relaxed and so much fun. The grandparents were darling, just laughing constantly at the craziness and enjoying having their family all around them. The three sisters were so cute together and all of those cousins, well they were tearing it up!

I have been friends with both Sara and Brady since Middle School (I won’t do the math) so to be able to take their family photos was so great! Our kids are good buddies (and are just weeks/days apart) so I brought mine with me and we went down and had a slumber party. It was a great trip; the kids stayed up way too late (trying to all sleep on one mattress), Sara and I got a night out, played at the park and we had a beautiful evening up at Pronghorn for our shoot. Everywhere I looked there were amazing spots to photograph but the girls were running out of steam, hungry and the wind was picking up so I had to stay focused! The other issue was my two kids were playing in the grass and running around next to us so it was constantly keeping mine away from the shot and keeping the girls from trying to play with them! I love this family and I just love, love their photos!

I met the O’Neil’s down in the Pearl for their family shoot before they headed out of town for the weekend. Their shoot was a crack up… the oldest daughter was a master at ‘posing’ and it seemed that whenever the breeze would pick up, it was like her own personal wind machine! I wonder who she got that from… ? The youngest one was determined to do what she wanted to do at the shoot… she’s so stinking cute that you just have to go along with her! I also experienced my first rude photographer… we were set up to take a shot and this photographer brought his bride and groom not 3 ft. from us. Then a couple of minutes later the entire wedding party…! Being so uncomfortable we decided to move on. We got a laugh out of it!

I loved this shoot, such a fun, beautiful family!

I met the Hay’s down at Foot Hill Park and within the first five minutes, I realized how lucky I was to have been able to photograph them! What a sweet family. The park was pretty busy, as it was a gorgeous night, but once I started to shoot, it was like it was just the four of us. Colin loved watching all of the boats go by, running through the grass, playing with his beloved trains (luckily, I know a thing or two about them :) and hugging on his sister! Miss Annabelle, well she just wanted to talk! I thought my little girl was a chatter box but she took the cake. It was so funny to listen to her ramble on, take a huge breath…. and then keep going!  I loved watching brother and sister take care of each other too. One was always showing the other something, making sure that they watched their step, giving a hug, sharing a snack… it was amazing. Then to top if off, mom was amazing! Just coming off knee surgery she went wherever I needed her to without a word. The three of them made a great team!

The Engstrom’s had me out to their beautiful home in Sherwood a couple of weeks ago. It was an amazing day and I loved driving past all of the farms and fields (of course keeping my eyes out for potential, future locations). I was so excited when I pulled into their driveway… what a gorgeous home and property!  Then to top if off, down the stairs come their two darling daughters all ready for a morning of photos. I had so much fun taking their pictures and would have kept shooting (I think they were going to kick me out), they were so fun and the girls were the BEST little models (those eyes and smiles)! Can easily say this was one of my favorite sessions! I can’t wait to see them all again.

Kristen’s mom emailed me late one night asking if I could do a few head shots for her daughter.  I was so excited because they have this amazing white barn in the middle of suburbia (my house looks out onto it)  that I have been dying to use in photos! The only time I had available was early that next morning, so I rolled out of bed, walked 15 feet over to the barn and was ready to go! Kristen is a funny girl… she has no idea how pretty she is. Her smile is infectious and turns into a laugh every time. I love it when people have a hard time just smiling ‘a little bit’… she would just burst into this huge, beautiful smile every time. So her ‘just a couple of head shots’ turned into a full senior portrait session and I loved every minute of it. With her long, curly blonde hair, barn, grass, plaid shirt… we were saying it was her Taylor Swift moment. She pulled it off to perfection!

I had such a great time meeting the Alessi family. We had a beautiful day for family pictures and the boys were ready… well at least one was. It was pretty funny actually how much the little one was avoiding me, all of us for that matter. They brought toys for him to play with … so he just played away from us. He had some snacks… well he just spit those out.  Then his older brother starts jumping up and down.. and wouldn’t you know it… he started to smile! After that we were good to go! It took 45 mins for him to warm up and an older brother tired of jumping but that’s OK!
